Frisky: a Work in Progress

Bachelor of Creative Media Production

Frisky gave me the opportunity to step up as a First Assistant Director, and I’ve truly found my passion in this particular field of film production. Managing a team both on and off set are experiences I’ve thoroughly enjoyed… less so managing the heartbreaking yet essential Covid-19 response. I am so excited to bring these skills, along with other fields I’m now proficient in, further into the creative industry.

Frisky is a 15-minute short film about a reclusive farmer, Mick, who must open up to a free-spirited ‘towny’, Anne, in order to save his farm from a terrible storm. It’s a heartfelt story with themes of mental health, acceptance, and human connection. Covid-19 has delayed production until January 2022. In its place, Kawera Pictures presents a documentary about the ups and downs of major project production. It’s an introduction to Frisky; an insight into what it means to be a film-maker during a pandemic.
