Bachelor of Design
For this collection I have been greatly inspired by 18th and 19th century Romanticism painting; particularly the works of Henry Fuseli and his painting “The Nightmare”. These paintings have a recurring theme of beauty and innocence enveloped in darkness; they have a macabre fascination to them are simultaneously very sensual in nature. I have also taken inspiration from historical gowns; specifically their proportions and undergarments (such as corsets and crinolines).
