This is a short inside into the user experience when diving in the Ascend free dive safety wetsuit.

Growing up with spearfishing and freediving as a common family activity, I heard a lot of stories about divers going missing or having to be rescued. When a friend came very close to blacking out whilst spearfishing, I saw an opportunity to design a product that helped freedivers survive shallow water blackouts. Ascend is a wetsuit containing an inflation bladder that connects to a CO2 module, which is autonomously triggered by a pulse-oximeter located on the divers ear. The wetsuit automatically inflates once it notices the diver's blood oxygen percentage drop below the 65% threshold, in turn bringing the unconscious diver to the surface safely.
