The Cover Up is a performative installation involving two performers, one on the inside and one on the outside of the windows of David Jones.
The two performers work simultaneously on either side of the windows, one revealing with the other obscuring the view inside.
There are three main actions to the performance that are carried out by the performers. Paste, Peel and Paint.
Camera’s from inside the window feedback live visuals onto a large screen visible from the street.

Retail windows displays entice and attract us to what's for sale in store using utopian and idealised narratives. The Cover Up is a performative installation situated in the windows of David Jones, Wellington. Over a number of weeks two performers work simultaneously on either side of the windows, one revealing and the other obscuring the view into the windows. The performance engages with our relationship to consumerism and daily maintenance.
