‘Patch: A Narrative History’ focuses on the importance of site, memorialisation and time. Visual inspiration drawn from the architecture of Tokomaru, the Wellington Dominion Museum Building, alongside written accounts of Puke Ahu’s history are pieced together to inform the design of site-specific textile artifacts. In memorialising multiple histories, these pieces aim to decolonise dominant narratives around the museum in order to construct a more inclusive, transitional historical narrative.
