As urbanisation increases, domestic gardens hold untapped potential as sites to support our precious indigenous biodiversity. This project explores how illustration and service design can inspire and facilitate more native planting in urban domestic spaces. ‘The Urban Gardener’ utilises botanical illustration to highlight the beauty of our native flora and encourage people to become kaitiaki of biodiverse gardens. Users of the service can order fully customisable native plant subscription boxes to suit their specific spaces and needs. ‘The Urban Gardener’ increases our indigenous biodiversity balcony by balcony, backyard by backyard.
