Newtown is a short drama film about a young musician and his journey into the creative world, as he discovers the value of self worth, his music and the importance of the support around him. My role as producer had me overseeing all aspects of pre production, during production and post production. Producing this project helped me learn and understand more about working in the film industry, and I want to take my lessons learnt and skills gained with me from this production into the future.

Newtown shines a light on the struggles young artists face when trying to break into a creative industry, exploring themes of seeking help, performance anxiety and self-sabotage in a thoughtful and, ultimately, uplifting way. Inspired by the music of New Zealand Artist GARDS, who provided the film’s original soundtrack, Newtown connects with younger audiences and anyone who’s ever put themselves out there for their art.
